The safari continues through the Hartmann Mountains to the Hartmann Valley, famed for its extensive grass plains and diverse wildlife. As you travel deeper into Kaokoland, your adventure includes nights under the stars at various campsites, each offering a blend of wild charm and essential amenities. The journey leads you through riverine landscapes rich in fauna, including a search for the elusive desert-adapted elephants in the Hoanib River. Watch for the Stonemen among the natural flora, standing as silent sentinels over this ancient land. Safari Itinerary

Day 1
Meet your Guide at the Khowarib Lodge(08h00) or in Opuwo(12h00) at the Kaokoland Restaurant (next to OK Grocer). Guide will give the group a quick briefing on the day’s activities s, general tour info. We travel northwest via Etanga, wild camping in the Otjihipa mountains. – Including Dinner for the evening.
Day 2
Today we travel further west, down the Otjihipa mountains, via the ZANDBERG PASS (not V Zyl Pass), into the Marienfluss, we will explore the magnificent and fascinating Marienfluss, where the valley opens into one of the most awe-inspiring and spectacular views this area has to offer. Camping on the Banks of the Kunene River for the evening OR Marienfluss Valley – Full board. (FB)
Day 3
Travel through the Hartmann Mountains into the beautiful Hartmann Valley with its extensive grass plains and abundant acacia trees, seeing Oryx, springbok, ostrich, and zebra in this Harsh environment. Wild camping for the evening – FB.
Day 4
Drive south, through breath-taking scenery to the Marble camp for the evening (Shower & Bathroom facilities available) – FB.
Day 5
Drive Via the Khumib river, Sukhumib River, upper Hoaruseb River to Purros. Camping at Omenje Campsite for the evening (Shower & Bathroom facilities available) – FB.
Day 6
Further downstream from Purros, via the Ganjas plains into the Hoanib River. Searching for desert elephants. Wild camping in Hoanib River – FB.
Day 7
On our last and final day, we drive upstream in the Hoanib River, via the Ganamub Rivier and Sesfontein to the Khowarib Lodge for the evening. DBB.

Further Information

In case of emergencies, all Kunene safaris are equipped with satellite phone and full medical equipment. Medical evacuation can also be arranged (subject to clients having appropriate insurance)

All our safaris can be operated as a guided self drive (where you drive your own vehicle) OR as a guided safari (where your guide does the driving)

For those without their own transport we will be happy to help you with transport arrangements from Windhoek to the lodge or indeed your onward destinations.
